On Sept. 29, Mitchell sent out a letter to several members of the Senate asking them to oppose the continuation of Public Law 45; their replies arrived throughout October. In particular see the replies from Senators Tom Stewart and William Langer, who enclosed copies of letters they received on this question from the Agricultural Extension Service and the WMC, respectively (16, 30).
