Old black and white, random sources. Some information on the back. A mix of beach scenes, sailors, soldiers, athletes, and working men. A few are photo-postcards. Some are studio shots. 16 photographs are 3x5 inches; 7 photographs are 4x6 inches; 2 photographs are 5x7 inches; 4 photographs are 8x6 inches; or larger. The last one is a modern print of an old negative.

Brochures and larger catalogues, sampling some of the erotica and pornographic art and films newly available in the 1990s. Also included are supposedly hidden-camera filmings of men's toilets and locker-rooms, politically incorrect works by Old Reliable, and a number of Tom of Finland sales brochures with a big catalogue showing how mainstream this formerly underground rebel artist had become, selling his work on coffee mugs.

Scope and Contents The 1980s and 1990s witnessed an explosion of gay art in museums and galleries, as illustrated by this collection of above-ground, elite presentations of gay art. The collection is not comprehensive, and it is New York-focused. Still, it shows the variety of work and venues, and it highlights the major presence of figurative and representational art in both paintings and photographs.
