Typescript copies of letters of Daniel Willard Fiske to George Allen. The letters are almost entirely concerned with the game of chess - e.g. a chess journal, contemporary chess players (notably Paul Morphy), famous chess players from the past, history of chess, chess bibliography, etc. Fiske also comments on other matters including Know-Nothingism (June 21, 1857), the Fiske genealogy, and his interest in Icelandic history and culture.
