Abstract
Dr. Harry Edwards is a scholar and activist. He organized the Olympic Project for Human Rights, whose most well-known demonstration was the Black Power salute by OHPR members and Olympic medalists John Carlos and Tommie Smith. Additionally, Edwards created the study of the sociology of sport while completing his graduate work at Cornell University, where he completed his PhD in 1970.
