Scope and Contents

The correspondence file deals mostly with membership issues. All correspondence regarding a specific doctor is filed together under his name. For example, letters nominating a specific doctor for membership is file under that doctor's name. There are two folders on correspondence regarding speeches. One file contains letters regarding a controversy over allowing Dr. Joseph Hinsey membership to the club. Dr. Joseph Hinsey who was the Dean of the Cornell University Medical College and the Director of the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center did not have a MD degree causing some members to oppose his membership to the club.
