In the background, in front of the bath house, men in two canoes are pulling on each end of a rope, attempting to gain control in a tug-of-war. Several groups of people are watching from rowboats and a canoe nearby. Spectators can also be seen in front of the bath house and on the shore on either side of the bath house.
