Scope and Contents
Collection includes a notice to stockholders of the Tremont & Suffolk Mills, Lowell, Mass. 1920. From Frederick Fanning Ayer, president explaining that company policy is to have no debt, not to borrow money, and to have no interest to pay. Warns stockholders not to try to get company to borrow money for quick returns. On verso is list, presumably of company shareholders, written by Richard Dudley Sears with note of explanation by John W. Sears. Also includes for November 1924, a summary of costs by style (blankets, cloth, etc.), sale yarn costs, underwear costs, data for estimating costs, details of calculations for department costs, data for overhead, labor distribution and costs specific to dyestuffs, waste handling, etc. Also includes payrolls (including costs of wage reduction), piece rates, lists of machinery and details of equipment, etc.
