Scope and Contents
These records are largely the files kept by the various Secretary/Treasurers of the club from 1928-1978. The working files have a few gaps but are nevertheless a source of information about all aspects of the club’s activities and members. They are left as originally arranged. The financial records and official minutes of meetings date back to 1912. A group of program notices were found in the Stevens collection and added here.

Biographical / Historical
Organized in 1891, and incorporated in 1903, the Textile Club of Boston, Massachusetts, provided the superintendents, agents, and managers of textile mills an opportunity to dine together and hear speakers on subjects of common interest related to textile manufacturing. By 1956 it enlarged its membership to include department heads. The club began with 32 members and grew to over 700 in the mid-1960s.
The club officers formed an executive committee who carried on club business. This was the arrangement of monthly Saturday afternoon meetings during fall and winter months and an annual meeting in May.

Processing Information
The ATHM # references the accession number given to collections by the American Textile History Museum (ATHM). These numbers have been kept and tracked for researchers looking for former citations. The ATHM accession number for this collection was 0022.453. When the materials had been processed by the ATHM, we kept the records in the original order but sometimes the box and folders numbers will change. The old numbers appear in the processing note, the box and folder are the numbers that immediately follow the accession number. For instance, the number 0022.453.1.3, would indicate that the material was formerly in Box 1, Folder 3.
