Scope and Contents

The Hartley L. Lord Papers includes mill notes concerning cotton manufacturing; a detailed inventory of York Manufacturing Co., Saco, Maine, with dimensions of buildings, shafting and pulleys, machinery, and small tools; a scrapbook of clippings about Chicopee Manufacturing Co. and other cotton mills; and a mill journal and notes. Also includes two letters from H.H. Edgerly with descriptions of the Naumkeag Steam Mill in Salem, Mass., and with comments on conditions at the Chicopee Manufacturing Co.
