Collection consists of two worsted notebooks that contain textile notes on worsted production, design, yarn calculations, weaving, wool types and weights, American and foreign. Also includes textile notes regarding companies called on in New England, listing orders by companies.

Biographical / Historical
The Ames Textile Corporation, located in Lowell, MA, manufactured cotton knitted goods, wool and blended yarn for knitters and weavers, worsted and blended fabrics for men's wear and uniforms, plain jersey and fancy knit fabrics for dresses and suits, and woolen spun fabrics for women's clothing. The company was formed in 1955 by the merger of the Lawrence Manufacturing Co. and the Ames Worsted Co. The Lawrence Manufacturing Co. manufactured cotton industrial knit fabric and automotive fabrics. The Ames Worsted Co. was established in 1921 by C. Brooks Stevens; the U.S. Bunting Co. merged with it in 1936. Ames Textile is now located in Christiansburg, VA and produces specialty yarns/threads. It is owned by 3a Throwing, a Canadian company.
