The letter gives a history of the company and outlines factors leading to its closing, including problems with foreign competition and the increased use of facial tissues instead of handkerchiefs. It contains interesting comments about the industry during World War I and World War II, manufacturing in Puerto Rico in the 1920's, China in the 1930's, and in Ireland, Spain, Madeira and Switzerland.
