Scope and Contents
Snapshot gelatin silver print, 1960s from an original ca. 1920. Image depicts five women posed outside in front of hedge wearing what appear to be Almafi shawls: left to right, Mary Foss, later Mrs. Hamann; Elizabeth Hevins of Wellesley; Caroline Simonds, later Mrs. Alexander; Caroline Foss, later Mrs. Dawes; Dorothy Tenney, later Mrs. Alden Foss. Mary and Caroline Foss were the daughters of Granville E. Foss Jr., president of Brightwood Mfg. Co., in North Andover. Dorothy Tenney would become the wife of Granville Foss's son Alden Foss. Caroline Simonds was possibly the daughter of George Henry Simonds, the co-founder (along with Granville Foss) of Brightwood.
