Mitchell explained the STFU viewpoint in a six-page memorandum to various officials in Washington entitled, "Factors in the Farm Labor Crisis" (15; note: this is an approximate date). Sutton on his attempt to set aside the result of an election in Edmondson, Ark., and the court petition filed in the case (3,4); a memorandum from Mitchell to Harold Oram on setting up a National Sharecroppers Fund (8), and correspondence about the initiation of an STFU cooperative store at Spruce Pine, Ala
