Biographical / Historical

The Fall Creek Milling Company was founded in the 1850's. Water to the mill was supplied by "Ezra's Tunnel," a 200 foot long waterway carved through the stone cliff on the north side of the gorge. Owners (and company name) went from being Pope, Way and Company to Pope, Way and Rowe to Pope, Way, Hull and Rowe to Strong, Rowe and Hull to Pope, Rowe and Strong to Strong, Hull and Company to A.M. Hull to finally becoming the Fall Creek Milling Company in Ithaca. The property was sold to Cornell University in 1926.
