Content Description
Several hundred photographs of Hip Hop artists and musicians, taken primarily during their performances in Albuquerque, NM between 2001 and 2012, along with some additional shows at venues in Oakland and Los Angeles, California. The photographs depict dozens of Hip Hop artists, both on stage and behind the scenes, in formats ranging between 24x36" color exhibition prints to 8x10" b/w work prints. Artists and groups include Jurassic 5, Gang Starr, The Pharcyde, MF Doom, Common, KRS-One, Nas, De La Soul, Ozomotli, Mos Def, Black Star, Talib Kweli, Erykah Badu, The Roots, Public Enemy, Dialated Peoples, Atmosphere, Blackalicious, Mr. Lif, Jean Grae, Ice Cube, Wu Tang Clan, Snoop Dog, George Clinton, Hieroglyphics, Cut Chemist, Beat Junkies, and many more.

Biographical / Historical
David Scheinbaum is former Director/Chair of the Photography Department at the Santa Fe University of Art and Design, and Professor Emeritus, College of Santa Fe. He worked with the preeminent photo historian Beaumont Newhall from 1978 until Newhall’s death in 1993 and continues as co-executor of his estate. With his wife, Janet Russek, he operates Scheinbaum & Russek Ltd., private fine art photography dealers and consultants in Santa Fe, New Mexico and exclusively represents the estates of Beaumont and Nancy Newhall, and Eliot Porter. His photographic projects and publications include Miami Beach: Photographs of an American Dream (Florida International University Press, 1990), Bisti (UNM Press, 1987), Stone: A Substantial Witness (Museum of New Mexico Press, 2006) and Images in the Heavens, Patterns on the Earth: The I Ching (The Museum of New Mexico Press, 2005) (with Janet Russek)
