COLLECTION DESCRIPTION
Posters promoting AIDS awareness, safe sex practices, maternal and child health in Namibia, collected by Monica Ruiz-Casares. Of the 32 posters on HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases in Namibia, 15 are part of a series called "Safe Sex Saves Lives," one is in the Afrikaans language, and some deal with AIDS orphans, discrimination and tolerance. One poster about AIDS orphans is in French and produced in Paris. One safe sex poster was issued by the United States Agency for International Development (U.S. AID). Of the 13 additional posters, six are related to the Day of the African Child or Day of the Namibian Child, six are related to safe pregnancies and healthy babies, one promotes girls attending school, and one is about farming. Also, one coaster from the Namibian HIV/AIDS media campaign "Take Control!"
