ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY
Hartshorne was a competitive nationally ranked master's runner, an expert in exercise physiology, one of the founding members of the Finger Lakes Runners Club and the Finger Lakes Cycling Club, the creator of the Cornell Masters Mile and the race director for twenty years. The event was renamed The Hartshorne Masters Mile. He promoted Masters-level competition in track and field on the east coast, especially the masters mile.
