Robert Textor papers

 Collection
Identifier: 8915

Content Description

The Robert Textor papers consist of field notes, correspondences, manuscripts, photographs, and a few printed articles covering the years approximately 1950 to 1980. The majority of the papers focus on Buddhism in Thailand but include material on other subjects and areas of Southeast Asia, including Indonesia. Textor used the Unisort Analysis Card-Sorting System to organize his field notes. As a result, he amassed thousands of Unisort Cards, all with fieldnotes meticulously typed onto each one. There are numerous notes, documents, and photographs of his research and work with the Cornell Thailand Project, as well as of his life as an ordained Buddhist monk. Also included are a considerable number of letters and articles that deal with his “Ethnographic Futures Research.”
