Content Description
The A. Nicholas Fargnoli correspondence with Stephen James Joyce documents Fargnoli’s professional exchanges with Stephen James Joyce, the grandson of James Joyce and executor of the Joyce estate, regarding permissions for reprints and reproduction of James Joyce’s works and related materials, spanning from 1992 to 2014. The correspondence consists primarily of letters, photocopies of faxes, and postcards. Materials illustrate Professor A. Nicholas Fargnoli's requests for permission to Stephen James Joyce to use passages from Joyce's publications, Joyce’s writings, such as The Plan of Ulysses, Exiles, and The Dead, in the published book "James Joyce A to Z: The Essential Reference to the Life and Work" (NY: Facts on File, 1995). Additional material includes exchanges with scholar Matthew Bruccoli, in connection with the Dictionary of Literary Biography.
