Content Description
Collection contains materials associated with the production of Beat-down newspaper, including a poster for the magazine, a September 23, 1997, audio interview with Rakim (also digitized on accompanying flash drive), and Hamlett's business cards and American Express card for the newspaper. Biographical / Historical
Beat-down newspaper was a Hip Hop and urban music news source launched in June 1992 by Haji Akhigbade and Sacha Jenkins, who sold Beat-down in 1994 when they established Ego Trip magazine. James Hamlett was Beat-down's associate producer between 1993 and 1998.
