Czech Anarcho-Punk Zines

 Collection
Identifier: 8153

Scope and Contents

24 Xerox self-published zines produced in Czechoslovakia / Czech Republic. All approximately 6 x 8 ¼ in. Largely staplebound. Zines created in the early to mid-1990s by the Czech youth underground during the fall of Communism. Titles include Euthanasia, Vostnatej Drat, View Beyond, Different Life, Autonomie, Stage Diving, Fan Club Hasiaci Pristroj, and more. Reflecting the broader punk sensibility of the time, many of the zines include anarchist sloganeering and symbols—a political valence undoubtedly shaped by the fall of the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic in 1990 and the dissolution of Czechoslovakia in 1993.
