Arrangement

This series contains Deep Springs College's legal files, the bulk of which were kept by attorney Christopher L. Campbell, Esq. of Baker, Manock, and Jensen in Fresno, California. While many files relate to general legal matters, the majority pertain to Deep Springs College's decision to go co-educational after almost a century of being a men-only institution.

Custodial History

In 2011, the Deep Springs Board of Trustees voted to admit female students but a legal challenge was brought by two dissenting trustees, Kinch Hoekstra and Edward Keonjian. After more than five years of litigation, the California Supreme Court resolved the issue in 2017, ruling in favor to permit the admission of women as students
