February 1, 1865. Ezra Cornell to Alonzo Cornell concerning Col. Jewett's collection: "I see you dont appreciate stones. If we have a college or University we shall have to procure a cabinet of Natural History and this as far as it goes is the best in the state and best in the world of the history of the N.Y. rock. "College matter looks more hopeful, but I shall not go into fits to induce the state to accept $500,000 of my money." February 8, 1865. Ezra Cornell to Alonzo B. Cornell from Albany: "Cornell University introduced and in hands of Committee of Senate Joint, Literature & Agriculture. Regents have sent a committee to Havanna to pump Cook.
