Abstract
This book shows how the workforce was changing at the turn of the Century in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. "What social science later enshrined as the "collar line" may have existed, but its significance was not at all clear. Rather than being a clear social delimeter, the collar line existed as a murky area invested with contradictory social meanings" (p.172)
